Why Volunteer through Community Law Program?
- Pinellas County has many families living at or below poverty level, and these families often have a disproportionate number of legal difficulties that can profoundly impact their daily lives.
- You would be providing legal assistance to individuals who could not otherwise afford legal representation.
- Attorneys can meet their aspirational pro bono goal of 20 hours of pro bono service or a $350 donation in lieu of service through the Community Law Program, a qualified legal aid organization. CLP is also a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
- CLP provides opportunities for free CLE seminars.

How to Volunteer
What is Available for Law Students?
The Community Law Program has several weekly clinics students can attend to fulfill their law school pro bono requirement.
Project description:
Student volunteers would attend a clinic and assist the clients in completing their applications and qualifying them for the program. They would help with the intake process and may work with the volunteer attorneys who provide advice to the clients.
The clinics offered by CLP are as follows.
Family Law Forms Review: Held Thursdays from 12 noon - 1:00 p.m. at 501 First Avenue North, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida. Pro bono attorneys provide low income people with advice regarding the use of the Florida Supreme Court Approved Simplified Family Law Forms in dissolution of marriage, modification and enforcement of child support, custody and visitation matters. Clients requesting and appointment should already have their forms completed to the best of their ability.
Divorce Forms Class: Held on the first and third Thursday of month from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Volunteer attorneys teaches the class on completing the packet of Florida Supreme Court Approved forms at 501 First Avenue North, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida.
Sanderlin Clinic: Held on the second and the fourth Tuesdays from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the James B. Sanderlin Family Service Center, 2335 22nd Ave. South, St. Petersburg. Volunteer attorneys provide advice on general civil and family law matters.
Housing Clinic: Held on the first and third Friday of month from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., volunteer attorneys meet with clients to discuss their housing or landlord/tenant issues at 501 First Avenue North, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida.
Courthouse Legal Assistance Clinic (C.L.A.C.): Every Wednesday attorneys are available 501 First Avenue North, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida between 10 a.m. - noon to discuss family law matters on a first come, first served basis.
Childs Park YMCA Clinic:Held on the forth Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Childs Park YMCA Center, 641 43rd Street South, St. Petersburg. Volunteer attorneys provide advice on general civil and family law matters.
Probate Clinic: Held on the second Tuesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at 501 First Avenue North, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida.
Volunteer attorneys meet with clients to discuss the process of probate. Please bring all relevant paperwork.
