Our Services
Community Law Program provides a variety of free legal services for low-income residents throughout Pinellas County, Florida. The following describes our pro bono representation services as well as our legal advice clinics. I. Pro Bono Legal Representation
We have a panel of very dedicated volunteer attorneys in the St Petersburg/Pinellas County area who are available to provide free legal representation in numerous types of civil cases, such as bankruptcy, family law (including divorce, child support, and custody), elder law, housing (including foreclosures and landlord-tenant issues), and tax.
II. Legal Advice Clinics
Bankruptcy Clinic
- Second Friday each month from 9:45 am until 12:00 noon at CLP, 501 First Avenue N, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida.
Volunteer attorneys meet with clients to review completed forms listing debts and assets. Attorneys discuss how bankruptcy works, the consequences of filing, and other options. Attorneys do not provide representation in Bankruptcy Court. Participants must first call to receive a bankruptcy questionnaire which must be completed before scheduling an appointment. Divorce / Family Law Clinics
- Divorce Forms Class, First & Third Thursday each month from 9:15 am to 11:30 am at CLP, 501 First Avenue N, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida.
A volunteer attorney teaches a class on completing the packet of Florida Supreme Court-approved family law forms for divorce. Forms can be downloaded from www.flcourts.org or www.jud6.org or purchased from the Clerk of Court. Participants must bring the forms with them and read over the packets before they arrive. - Family Law Forms Review Clinic, Second & Fourth Thursday each month from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm at CLP, 501 First Avenue N, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida.
Volunteer attorneys review completed Florida Supreme Court-approved family law forms for dissolution of marriage, modification of child support, custody and visitation, paternity, temporary custody, and name changes. Attorneys provide procedural advice. Clients must have their forms completed. Forms can be downloaded from www.flcourts.org or www.jud6.org or purchased from the Clerk of Court. - Courthouse Legal Assistance Clinic, every Wednesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at CLP, 501 First Avenue N, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida. No ongoing or continuing representation available. No appointment necessary. Walk-ins are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Sanderlin Legal Clinic, Second & Fourth Tuesday each month from 12:45 pm to 3:00 pm at James Sanderlin Family Service Center, 2335 22nd Avenue S, St. Petersburg, Florida. No ongoing or continuing representation available. Please call (727) 321-9444 for an appointment.
- Childs Park YMCA, Fourth Friday each month from 9:30 am to 11:30 at Childs Park YMCA, 691 43rd Street South, St. Petersburg, Florida. Please call (727) 209-9622 for an appointment.
- Parenting Plan Class, 501 First Avenue N, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida. Volunteer attorneys provide legal assistance and guidance on choosing an approriate Parenting Plan and assist clients in completing their plans. Elder Law Clinics
- First Friday each month from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Sunshine Senior Center, 330 Fifth Street N, St. Petersburg, Florida.
- Third Friday each month from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at Gulfport Senior Center, 5501 27th Avenue South, Gulfport, Florida.
Volunteer attorneys assist clients over 60 years of age with wills, living wills, powers of attorney, and health care surrogates. No appointment is necessary. Please contact (727) 582-7480 for more information.
Housing Clinic
- First & Third Friday each month from 12:45 pm to 3:00 pm at CLP, 501 First Avenue N, Room 519, St. Petersburg, Florida.
Volunteer attorneys provide legal assistance with foreclosures and other housing issues.
