Who We Are Community Law Program, Inc. (CLP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation formed in 1990 by members of the St. Petersburg Bar Association to serve the civil legal needs of low-income and disadvantaged individuals. CLP's main objectives include:
What We Do Individual Representation Over the years, CLP has recruited approximately 400 attorneys in Pinellas County, Florida to provide free legal services (pro bono representation) to thousands of people in need of civil legal assistance each year. Legal Advice Clinics CLP also arranges for a variety of ongoing outreach programs hosted by volunteer attorneys at various sites throughout the county. In addition to providing individual pro bono representation, we offer a number of free legal advice clinics ranging from bankruptcy to divorce forms. These practical clinics are designed to educate and empower those who represent themselves in court (pro se). Special Projects CLP has also initiated several special projects such as the Transitioning Dependent Youth Project, which assists children aging out of the foster care system with various legal issues; the Community Counsel Program that offers legal assistance to qualified non-profit organizations; and the Self-Help Center at the courthouse in downtown St. Petersburg, which is open to all members of the public regardless of income.
